I’m very much optimistic about South Africa, Africa and its future- and through my art, I celebrate Africans as a beautiful people with their own stories to tell. My practice is sculptural in nature. It is a connector between different mixed media -dominated largely by rope, fabric and three dimensional found objects boxed into wooden frames that are often painted or decorated with patterned fabrics. Each art piece tells a story about Africa and its people; how in all our cultural differences we still have a lot in common. The work is a celebration of how we choose to beautify ourselves and the spaces around us. Featuring prominently in my pieces is the use of shapes, lines and curves bold structural elements honouring the uniqueness of what Africa has to offer.
